b18 ls vtec sputtering help?

Default b18 ls vtec sputtering help?

i have an ls vtec, b18 block with b16 head fully rebuilt stock except for skunk 2 stage 1 cams. i got about 5000 miles or so on the motor and all the cylinders run healthy and perfect, i know a pretty good amount about ls vtecs but when i floor my car it starts sputtering and almost sounds like its giving out on spark, but the weird thing is that some days it rips just fine and doesn't sputter till i drive it for a little while. also on the sputtering days it doesn't have as much power as it usually does and for some reason my tack tweaks and jumps around when im driving even just normal driving. i have an air to fuel gauge that says its usually running rich and sometimes it runs a little more lean which is weird since i have stock injectors. so if anyone can help me out that knows about ls vtec that would be great. a few of my friends have had ls vtecs and they say theyve had similar problems that they cant figure out. so please and thx!

first off is the car tuned? what psi? are your plugs drenched in fuel when this happens? stock injectors arent recommended for boost applications since theyre under 300cc's. and btw, an air/fuel gauge doesnt read accurate at all, it merely guesses what its running. wideband a/f meter gauges tho is what you should be looking at.

I think others and myself need a lil more info on what your setup is as far as timing, fuel components, unit used to tune and run your car etc.

its not boosted just completely stock with stage 1 cams and yes i do need a tune ik that for sure, i've ran a b16 ecu, gsr ecu, and a another skunk 2 ecu of my friends but its tuned for stage 2 cams which makes my car run a little bit better. i figured the gauge wasnt too accurate either cause my plugs r completely perfect and healthy and never covered in fuel. its just weird because the first month the ls vtec ran it never had a problem and rip full power all the time. also ik if i got adjustable cam gears that would help since ls vtecs never have perfect timing without them

i know this post is old but for anyone with this same problem my del sol did this with a b16 in it it turned out to be the distributor the tach would jump around you would get some sputters it did it for over a month before it went out completly
