Default built d15b, knowledge neededd!

I'm about to pick up a 98 coupe dx, clean & 100% stockerr. no rust too i live in texas!. anyways i sold my built gsr before i went to basic and that car got me in way to much trouble anyways. now im going for i guess the "hard-parking" i have alot of suspension parts, ff spec 1, coil-over, asr, beaks, front, rear camber kits, ff7 lcas, strut bars, all that jazz ect...

anyways i wanna do an easy swap and hmo is selling the jdm spec d15b which imo is the best sohc motor (i know they run like 130hp.). but i wanna build the motor for fun, any good advice on parts, i.e pistons, valves, cams, cam gears.. so any input would be appreciated

thx

from my understanding the d15b vtec is very similar to the d16z6. but if i were you id leave the motor pretty much stock just with bolt ons. unless your going to boost it i wouldn't worry about fully building the motor. i had a z6 in my old coupe with just intake header exhaust and its was enough fun for me. but thats just my opinion

get a d16y7 block for like 150$ max, a z6 head for about 75$, get it completely rebuilt oem spec, shave 0.020" off the head, buy a small cam and tune it. Should be as fun as the GSR.

I'm about to get a JDM d15b vtec after doing some research it has the d16z6 head on it but the bottom end is unique you can get pistons for it semi-easily but the rods are hard if not impossible to get due to the stroke and rod length. I've seen a few threads where people use the vitara pistons and eagle rods without any clearance issues but I wouldn't trust that. My build is going to be stock bottom built head with turbo running 7-10psi which seems to be the reliable standard for the d15b getting about 200whp
