i need help with my a/c its to hot out people help me
whats up guys like my title says i need help with my ac. i have a 98 4dr ex accord and the a/c is no cold at all. i checked the compressor and found that the clutch is not engaging. i had hot wired the compressor and the clutch engages and the compressor blows cold air into the cabin. so that shows that the compressor works its just not gettin power. also when i turn the a/c on from the ***** and buttons the a/c button lights up and the rpms jump just the compressor clutch does not engage. does anyone know what may be the problem? its blazing in my car even with the windows down and my girl is going crazy lol. help a brother out please.
From the description you provided it sounds like the ECM wants to command the A/C clutch ON. Your problem could be caused by a faulty compressor clutch relay or maybe a rat chewed wire or simply a bad connection between the relay and the coil.
Can't recall if the compressor clutch relay is the same as any other relays in the UnderHood fuse box but if it is, you can swap it with another, say the radiator fan relay, for diagnostic purposes.

Should be in the underhood fuse box, swap it with an identical one in there (possibly the one for the radiator or condenser fan) and see if it triggers. Also possibly test your pressure switch for the a/c.
i worked on one of this body style once and the problem was the relay. it's in the underhood fuse box and it should be somewhat clearly labeled. if theres another relay in there that the same size as it is, swap them out and see if the ac works. replace ac relay if so.

The low pressure switch will prevent power from going to the compressor, prevents it from burning up the ac compressor because of low levels. Check the relays but you might check the freon pressure as well? With the car/key in in the on position (not running, position II) when you press the ac switch and the blower on-do the rad fans come on?
rad fans dont turn on but i heard that thats normal since the rad isnt hot yet also wen i press the ac button the rpms jump as if the compressor turned on.

I would jump the pressure switch and see if the system turns on. Only long enough to see if it actually turns on, if it does, turn it off. It would indicate a low charge or a faulty pressure switch.
