Default overboring worth it? cost and power difference?

Hey there, just doing my first engine rebuild, engines almost out, maybe another day of work
So I'm planning on overboring to 85 mm for a b18b2 (i'm pretty sure its the same as a b18b1 so i'm going to follow those instructions from the sticky thread about b-series engine), so I can still have a choice to turbo later on.

Now my questions:

When you overbore the cylinders, exactly what else needs to be changed to adjust to the changes (please let me know if its recommended or it HAS to be changed)?

Anyone know the horsepower increase when you do bore a b18b from stock to 85 mm? I think it said the displacement increases to just over 2000 cc, but depending on the increase, maybe its not worth it for me to bore.

What is resleeving exactly (sorry, everyone has a first time), do you have to do it, other then the cylinders what needs to be relseeved if overboring?

Thanks ahead for any help

Yes you'd need to resleeve as the cylinders in your block can only go to 82mm.

I think it's great to want to learn and do things for yourself as we've all been there before as we all have to start somewhere. My concern is that you are trying to do something that requires a fair amount of knowledge and experience to understand and do for yourself and from the sounds of it, you may be in a little over your head. It has taken most of us a reasonable amount of time to get to the level where we'd try to do what you are trying to do (on our own). It is difficult to tell/teach you everything you'd need to know and understand about the build that you are attempting at this point. Is there a shop you feel comfortable doing business with anywhere near you that can help you with your project?

Don't really know about any shops but maybe overboring is a little over my head for the moment, as it is just my first engine rebuild.
But as for the rebuild itself, from my current researching on the internet, if I want to install a turbo at around 7-8 psi max, a daily driver would be possible on the stock b18b?
Most forums on the net recommended getting a GSR head but is there anything else I should keep in mind to change? I have "How to Rebuild a B-series" by Jason Siu coming in tomorrow from Amazon, hopefully the book helps in the rebuild.

you should also check out the forced induction forum here and do some reading and asking questions there as I'm sure that would help. In a sense you have a lot of ground to cover to get to where you want to go without someone local to rely on.

The pistons and rings, obviously.

Increasing the bore increases the displacement, which is roughly proportional to the power increase. So if you get another 200cc, that is about another 10% displacement on a 1.8l, so you could guess a 10% increase in power. Other things may factor in on your eventual power level, like compression ratio, cams, etc.

The sleeves are steel, and the block is aluminum. The stock sleeves can be bored larger to some extent. Re-sleeving is when the stock sleeves are replaced, usually to hold more pressure (turbo) or to permit a larger bore.
