the other day i was driving home and the cel came on and i turned down the techno and heard a very loud tick its not a rod knock but is loud, and every few seconds it has a metal on metal noise, the timing is still good tho, im thinking valve adjustment and hopefully getting to that tomorrow but just looking for some more ideas so i can get it going before sunday night, thanks

 

motor also shakes a lot more then normal and i did a cel reading and it said misfire in 2 3 4 and when the car is running and makes that louder tick every few seconds if i unplug the 4th cylinder spark plug it stops but i changed the plug and coil and still does it

 

anything anyone?

 

lol. Sounds like valve slap and I'm guessing you jumped a tooth with your timing chain. Check for TDC alignment.
