Default iat sensor

Are there any huge issues when the IAT sensor is disconnected?

No CEL.

I'm using the USDM p72 Type-R Intake Manifold on my JDM b16a and the sensor outlet on the IM is being blocked off by the stock fuel rail. The IAT sensor is dangling in the engine bay and it should be taking temperature readings from the engine bay...I think.

Um, yes, air:fuel gets all jacked to ****. Plug it is, or do what you have to do to get it working again.

My goal is to get this baby BAR'd. I know they changed a few state emissions laws. 4g4dcrusin, I read your post a couple days ago about the new BAR-ing laws. Is it still possible to BAR a JDM b16a?

I've heard the california state laws say that japanese vins are not accepted. Also, you can only have a motor that was in the same model as yours. I dont know if they look into trim level.

US
-dx
-lx
-ex
-si

Japan
-siR

So if you have an obd0 siR I motor, you might be alright considering it came out of an 88-91 civic. But honestly im not too sure.

Cali laws are getting real stingy. So people with Type-R,GSR.. EF's aren't BAR-ing these days? edit: wait, so ALL jdm motors, regardless of model, are pretty much illegal; no matter what.

Jdm motors are allowed as replacement motors once your car has been reffed to carry that engine type. In order to bar a new motor in your car it has to be a usdm model.

Also to the OP you need to have a type r fuel rail, which relocates the fuel pressure regulator, and allows for clearance of the IAT. also a type r is not a p72, it's a P73.

Your set up should look similar to this....

This is my first gen skunk2 manifold (copy of a type r) with type r fuel rail and injectors.

What about the GSR OBD1 fuel rail, will that fit?
