Default 91 honda prelude 2.0 si

i just brought a 91 honda prelude 2.0 si and my car is overheating. well ive have change the thermostat but that didnt help. i was told it could be a head gasket that could be causing the car to overheat. how hard is it to change a head gasket? also when i put my key to crank my car my transmission lever wont move unless in put my in the lever release hole. could there be something stuck that could be causing this?

Doesn't sound like a head gasket.
