Default LS Vtec / Reliable???

I know it all comes down to who builds this motor... Lets say its built the correct way... about how long do these motors last?

B18 Bottom B16 Head

20,000 miles
100,000 miles

etc...

And if it were a DD

built and tuned correctly i can't see why it wouldn't last as long as the equivalent gsr/whatever motor.

Mine is almost a year old fresh build, and I beat on it a little more than i probably should and it's holding up just fine.

If you currently have a gsr motor u should invest the money used for building the lsvtec and use it to make a mean *** gsr.
Just my .02
or use the gsr head instead of a b16 head. I personally enjoy my lsv but if I had a gsr from the gate I would have absolutly no issue building that up instead.
Good luck!

Or keep the GS-R Block and use the LS rods and LS crank. that'll work well.

so we all know by now H-T pays the shodan to make us feel like we are noobs but aside from his genius...

a buddy at our shop has been dding his lsv now for over 120k mostly highway miles but he beats the crap out of it too. surprisingly its still runs like a top considering we built it back in the day when body kits where cool, or at least when we thought so

haha.... shodan is the man, ya'll shut your mouth when you're talking to him. He's helped me on here more than anyone else I can think of...

ls vtec is fine if its built right, taken care of and not driven stupid. Mine has 20k miles on it now, half of which were 8k+ rpm toda C cam miles driven by a retard untuned. just have it built by a pro and it'll last forever as long as rpms are kept reasonable

its usually true.. and he's right.

Visit the uneducated sub forms like the integra or EG forum, you'd hear the stupid **** that comes out of kids mouths now and days

"ls/vtecs are bunk"
"ls/vtecs blow up after a week of being built, they only last for 2 years"

i mean seriously, he's right.. SEARCH.. if it was a legitimate question of keeping a motor for say 7 years or so, then ya, ls/vtecs are just as realistically as stock gsr motors.

It's all about :
general maintance
nit pushing it past what it's supposed to do
choosing the right parts for your application
and the tune... It's all about the tune...

My lsv has never given me any issues and it's all oem and a "budget build"
p28 chrome ftw!! :D
