Icon2 Trans/clutch noise..

hello fellow h-t'ers, im haveing a serious issue withe my trans and i need some help in my diagnosis. so here is the run down very basic and straight forward...

a couple months ago i changed my gear oil and out fresh Honda MTF and yes its properly filled.. about 2.5-3 weeks later my trans started making this ratteling noise but only when the clutch is released even in gear. when i press the clutch noise is gone.. now heres what i find crazy. its comes and goes based off my 1st gear engagements. if i take off slowly itll rattle, grind. but if i do a power take off as in a 1300-1600RPM take off and a quick cluth relese it wont grind untill i shift to second... and it only makes this noise in my forward gears not in reverse.

so what im asking is has anyone ran into this before?? and if its similar or someone knows exactly what im describing please chime in. trying to seperate it as a clutch problem or a trans problem

Sounds like your main shaft bearing in the transmission.

sounds like your main shaft bearing or your input shaft bearing. Its really easy to change out just time consuming.....if you search on here you can find a how-to re move and replace input shaft bearings on here. the How to will be from a b-16 tranny....... For the most part all honda trannys are somewhat built the same. I rebuilt my y7 tranny going off of a b16 how to. You just have to be patient and dont rush it....

i kinda had the same problem... when downshifting and u let go does it make the noise when the rpms go up?
also does it only happen when under alot of torque? for example 5th gear has little torque so i couldnt really hear my noise in 4th and 5th gear

i ended up just swapping my y7 tranny for an ex tranny...but i only got it for $75 from a buddy....what a steal!!lol....

and while i had it apart put in a new flywheel, clutch, and axles

u might not get as lucky as me but i paid about 350 for everything
tranny $75
brand new clutch kit $110
brand new flywheel $70
brand new axles $80 bucks

Another vote for the input shaft bearing or the bearing on the other end of the main shaft.
