headgasket ??????
k i'm done the A6 swap and done the mpfi also but when i start it up it idles really high close to 5000 and blows tons of white smoke??
how do i get down to normal cold idle speed???
the intake manifold bracket doesn't seem to be pushing the manifold upwards preventing from seating properly against the head....so could it be that the headgasket is blown??
and i mean lots of white smoke

TTT
k well i'm starting the process of pulling the head off and i pulled the plugs out first. none of the spark plugs are wet so the intake manifold gasket is ok, RIGHT?
do i need honda bond to put the headgasket on??
so how do i get the cold idle down to normal instead of 4-5000rpms ????

if the headgasket is busted would it make the engine idle cold at 4000-5000 rpms ??? i don't hear any whistling noises so i'm assuming the gaskets are OK.
what about that red braided line that goes on top of the TB it is not held on tight on the fitting could that be the problem also??

k i pulled the head off and right away i saw the top of #4 piston is dark and moist plus when i drained the rad you can see some oil floating at the surface so for sure its the headgasket.
so i only got one more problem...the idle
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THE COLD IDLE AT 4-5000 RPMS??
WHAT DO I DO TO BRING IT DOWN??
HOW COME NO ONE IS RESPONDING

Have you messed with the idle adj screw on the TB? On a cold startup it should idle at about 1200 rpm. Also are you torquing your head bolts?
*EDIT* check your throttle cable. Make sure it not holding the butterfly open.

the red braided line coming from the canister (i think) is not tight...
i'm about to get a new headgasket do i need sealant too???
yeah i'm torqueing the bolts down in sequence
i didn't touch the idle screw at all and by the way its from an 87 teg but i don't think thats the problem cuz it matches the manifold close to perfect. even the coolant passage is the same...

ok mes with your idle screw. you dont neeed to use sel\ent just put the gasket on right. next thing tourque it in the proper sequence to 49 lbs-ft
0 ish if you overtourque a bit dont back them off. the red braided hose does less then nothing so just leave it dont take it off tho cause itll cause a leak.
Now i think your problem is:
Your TB is open at idle
To check
pull of intake and see if the butterflyvalve in the throttle body is close or partly open
Next if it is follow the throttle cable and turn the adjuting screws till its close then open it a bit. Do the rest with the idle adjust screww.
PS: I thought cold start was 2000 RPM stock and idle at ~ 975 rpm??

i will check the Tb later when i'm done with the headgasket gotta get rid of all the debris...i just wanted to make sure that i don't have to use sealant for the headgasket before i put it on....thanks bro i will try later...
but yeah i removed the TB gasket and then i went to the auto store see if they got any and the only place that has em is the dealership which is not open on the weekend so i gotta make my own....shitty i just hope i cut it right
