Ok guys I have a 98 civic cx hatch 5 speed. The problem has been going on for a couple years now. When Im driving down the road sometimes the car just completely shuts off on me. Almost as if I turn the car off while driving. Its gotten worse these past few days. Its worse on hot days than it is on cooler days. Sometimes I don't even need to be driving. For instance I drove to the gym today and after about an hour I came out to start the car and as soon as it started it stalled. It wont stay running. I have no cels but after I try to start it about 10 times it will eventually stay running. I was pretty sure it was the classic signs of the main really so I swapped it out for a good one when I finally got home (about 5 min drive). I tried to start the car and it did the same thing, as soon as it starts it dies. After about 5 tries it finally stayed running. What else can I check, Im pretty sure its not a bad ignition switch either because 1. Its been replaced already and 2. If that goes bad the car will usually start right back up (which mine does not) I have noticed too that the past couple days when I start my car I get a real bad fluctuating idle for about 5-10 min. Even when I hold my foot on the gas and try to level it out it still hunts up and down. Again I have no cels

 

If the dash warning lights are off when the engine stalls, then test the ignition switch. Otherwise, test the ICM in the distributor.

Classic symptoms of a bad ignition switch. Do these continuity tests:

 

I will check that but usually the car will start right back up with a bad switch no? Also I dont know if this matters but if I hold my key in the start position it will stay running as soon as it goes to run it will shut off,
