Default Air conditioner problem

Hey, I've done some searching on the forums here and I'm not finding what I need. Hopefully you all can take some pity on a first poster here and bear with me this is a little long.

2000 Honda Civic EX
Last summer: recharged AC with can from car store, everything worked better than it had in years

This summer, couple months back: decided, "what the heck", I hooked up another bottle and let it run for a while thinking it would suck up whatever it could and all would be well.

Result: Doh!!

After 5 to 10 minutes of driving the ac kicks off, blows warm air, after another 2 minutes it'll kick back on. It doesn't seem to matter much if I use the internal recirc or outside air, however my observations lead me to believe without recirc the air will blow longer.

Could I have overfilled the AC system with the freon (whatever it is really called now)?

Maybe the problem is independent of my fillup. In that interest here are some other symptoms:
-plenty of water pooled under car after i park it, so it's obviously condensing
-car idle drops when compressor picks up, so I'm sure again it's turning on (or trying)
-the fan is running when I look at it, but I don't know if it's running slow
-front and back of coils look free and clear of debris
-hoses look in good shape
-it seems like, sometimes, the AC drops off faster when I'm sitting still. However sometimes it'll run sitting still just fine but then drop off later (intermittent fan?)

I'd love some opinions on what to do first and how to resolve the issue. Please, anything you got, it's hot as heck and I'm baking like a dorito chip.

Looks like you overcharge the system. Take it to a shop to flush and recharge
