Default ACL Duraglide or Race Bearings?

For a while I had heard that the Race bearings were a no-go for daily drivers which occasionally went to the track or autox etc, however recently I have heard different and it is time to choose bearings for the bottom end.

I like hearing lots of opinions from people with experience and not just saying "my friend 2000 miles away used them, they're great"

Any suggestion is appreciated on the choice between these two ACL's. Will be for a 1.8 GSR, approx 11.6-12.0 C/R all motor.

ACL race bearings in my b20vtec.
Daily driven, just made 9 months yesterday, multiple 9.5k revs, driven about 50 miles a day..checked them a few months back, looked still pretty new..

Put them into my motor, 1.8 11:5ish c/r revving to 8k daily. I started beating on it after about 10 miles or so, and there's nothing in my oil..

i'm reall loose though, i'm sitting at .018 i think?

.018" isn't that loose. I'm at .020-22" on my build.

the race bearings just provide more clearance. make sure they're within spec. im rockin them now btw in my stock gsr, a lil too much clearance, slight rod knock at startup in the morning sometimes.

Good replies so far, more are encouraged. This may be a good FAQ for those curious about the differences between the two.

Yes they denote it with an X at the end of the part numbers. I personally bought the Race STD's with normal part numbers. The thrust are not "race" version as they only make the Race series for rod/main.

I talked to Rocket the other day about which he suggested for the build and he said race all the way, they are both good bearings and will work well, but he said a big thing is the absense of flash plating on the Race series. He explained that this could fatigue and wear. I took his suggestion because he has the experience to back up his suggestions.

i put acl race in my friends d16z6 vitara build drove on my tune for a year, then got tuned at church's with greddy turbo it made 200whp with 185tq has about 15k on it now, drives it every day to work and back stock redline no problems until cylinder 3 ring land cracked and lost compression, put a new piston in went back to church's and got retuned with a bigger turbo at 10psi made 225whp no problems so far keep hoping no more ringlands break on 10 psi lol

i went a little too loose i think with vitaras at 40 thou p2w shoulda done 30 thou
