JUST installed Illumina/Ground Control (ek) and ride sucks ?!
i recently bought these used and just put em on last night. my goal was to maintain a near oem height so i dont look like a kid racer. handles much better on any 1-5 setting, but my ride is pretty horrible. Ive also got an S2000 with tein flex coilovers dropped to the MAX with 18" rims and my civic at near oem height and 14" hx rims rides just as bad if not, worse.
I expected a much better ride from the research i did prior to purchasing these.
does anyone with these setup have a harsh ride? are my GC springs rates really high and i dont know? how do i know if the shocks are blown? im on 1/1 setting and its still unbearable....i thought the shocks might be blown, yet i notice a difference when i change the shock settings so im hoping that means they arent blown?
this blows because ive got oem height (a good 4 finger gap) and my ride quality sucks!! WTF?! if all else fails....what do you suggest for a near oem ride with minimal drop?

i actually bought them right off the car so it was a quick swap. ive got the oem dust covers on MY oem suspension that i removed....
ok.
so what happens when you go over something like a speed bump at a very slow speed?
and what exactly is wrong to your taste?
what spring rates?
and am i to understand that these are previously used shocks?

speed bump slow speed gives it a good harsh jolt enough to wake people up that might be sleeping.
what i perceive is wrong is the severity of the 'jolt.' very harsh and prolonged. cruising speeds over anything but perfect roads will keep the car jolting up and down. after 20 miles to destination my gf and i both literally had stomachaches. this was set at 1 front 2 rear (near softest setting)
spring rates unknown...anyway i can see on the spring visually to find out?
previously used a 'claimed' 4000 mi.
had/have many vehicles with aftermarket suspension this takes the cake as worst. never had tokicos nor GC before however.

this is just not typical of ANY type of suspension, properly installed and working. im sure this is not an indication of the tokico illumina and ground control combination. considering that you are feeling JOLTS as you come down from a speed bump.
there is something interfering with your suspension. usually its the use of the dust covers. but i suppose we've ruled that out.... you still need to go back and check the rest of the installation.
you can just look on the side of the springs and read the spring rates. google how to rear eibach race springs.

look for numbers on the springs in this format xxx.xxx.xxx and report back, knowing the spring rates will help determine if its really stiff springs, blown shocks, or install error
have you considered spring pre-load when raising it that high? sure it might be stock height, but the spring isn't at a stock spring rate.
One of the best ways to diagnose this is if you can post pictures of how everything is installed on your car. If you can, try to get the spring part numbers to be shown in the pictures. Did you by any chance ride in the car the suspension was previously on?
just checked and i am dumbfounded.
front 0800.250.0450
rear 0600.250.0950
if im not mistaken, ive been on 450 spring rate up front and 950 spring rate in the rear??
this is BEYOND stiff!!

Nice. So thats like 16k ish rear and 8k front.
Sounds like someone sold you some stuff with drag rates? My friends drag car he runs 10k front 18k rear.

definitely a drag setup. if you want a street setup order a pair of 400lb springs to replace those 950s and you should be a good deal happier.
not to mention safer when you're railing corners
