Looking to flush my radiator this weekend and was wondering if its mandatory to replace the thermostat? read it online through another forum and just wanted to double check, see what others have to say.

I never have.
I just drain, fill with water, run around for a few minutes with heat on, and then drain and re fill. never had an issue with replacing the thermostat.
