Default how to trigger an 'input' by shifting?

i need to know how to trigger inputs w/o having the ability to use an EMS to trigger the inputs.

i need an "input1" triggered on 1st gear, and "input2" triggered in 2nd.

only thing i can think of is like a magnetic microswitch that gets triggered as i shift thru each gear, but the magnetic switch obviously needs to be small enough that wen the shifter is in "1st" that it doesnt get triggered by the switch in "3rd" since 1 and 3 are next to eachother...

even then, idk what specific switch needs to be used.

i am running a stock ecu (srt-4) so i dont have the ability to trigger an input like on an ems.

what are you guys using, or any help and suggestions?

Everyone here is using an ECU that has specific inputs/outputs that can be triggered by calculated gear ratio.

Can you be a little more specific on what you are trying to accomplish and there may be another way...

Also, do you need a ground switched input, or voltage input (0-5v, 0-12v)...etvc

yea thats my main problem...i dont have an ecu/ems that has any inputs that can be triggered

basically looking to go NLR-500 and idk how id trigger the inputs so as to change the 'stages' on the boost controller.

basically id like to activate the 1st input in gear 2, and activate the 2nd input in gear 3 and keep it activated through gears 3, 4, and 5...but idk how i'd set it up so as to when the inputs know when to be activated.

looking at the PDF...it looks like the inputs can be ground activated or by +12v activation.

i have used the clutch switch in the past but i dont always move the pedal fully either way. when i was using the ITS boost controller, i had an issue with swapping stages.

sometimes it would contact sometimes not.

is it not just easier to use s300 that has boost x gear x rpm?

I would you use the cruise control kill switch on the clutch. then you can turn a switch on that would trigger the clutch switch once you start so say on a push button release it when you launch then stage 1 will work and the clutch switch will activate the other stages.. and then turn the switch off to kill the trigger for burnouts or staging or pulling up to the line if that makes sense

I have used a shift light output to trigger stages.

its on a stock ecu SRT-4 so dont think it has outputs to do shiftlights.. see if you have a switch that works when you just touch the clutch pedal but dont use the one to start the car as you would have to push the clutch all the way in..pm me and I can help you out somemore

What does a stock ecu have to do with a shift light output? Any rpm switch can do the trick.

so the inputs would be activated by rpm? once i cross over say 7500 rpm, input 1 engages...then once it crosses over 7500rpm again, input 2 engages?

am i thinking that up right? im sorry guys...im new to this. lol

I would just get a fancy Fast and Furious Steering wheel with the two horn or NOS buttons and then control the two stages manually with your fingers

There has got to be a standalone speedo gauge or setup that outputs a voltage...and you could setup something to trigger based on "speed" I suppose. I just dont know of anything off the top of my head.

see if you can mount micro switch's on the gates of your shifter or build a bracket.
(ex. NOS full throttle switch)

X2 what ENZO RACING said.

They do this all the time here in brazil to activate booster stages, it works flawlessy

Sth like this:

what type of switch is that? I wanted to do something like this initially from the beginning before i made this thread, but i dont know what type of switch (and where to get it) to be used, and if i'd need a switch connected to gates 3, 4, and 5 in order to keep my second input activated.

an rpm light activating the inputs seems the easiest probably..just need to use a lil brain power to figure out how to bypass the inputs when im not drag racing.

I just had 2 switches right in front of my shifter that i could easily switch on, and a horn button scrammble boost

It is called micro switch.. Any corner eletronics store should have them, and they are not more then .50 each..

They are available in different sizes, so you can use 5 small ones, each one triggering a output for a different gear. Or just for the gears you need
