Default Some questions about stripping/painting LS Meshes

My LS Meshies were painted black by previous owner.

I have two scenario questions:

First question...
If I want them to be aluminum again,
do I just aircraft strip it and polish it or do I have to clear coat it?

Second question...
If I wanted to paint them a different color,
do I have to strip the last paint? Can I just wet sand it and paint over the black paint, then clear coat?

For polishing, you can clear it when it's all said and done, although it's not a necessity.

If your going to repaint them a different color I would definatly strip them again. Personally I would even sand them a bit after I stripped them just to make sure I got all the old crud off.
