f20b with h22 head but whY? And what all fits?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been reading around alot about the motor I recently purchased and I've heard alot of conflicting stories.
So the block of my f20b is a beast, I got that. I plan on running boost here in the next month and achieve a modest 325 - 350 hp.
I've heard that if possible you want to run an H22 head on the F20b? Why? Does it contribute to power? Or is it more reliable?
I've also heard some people say the whole head fits, while others have said the intake valves won't work because f20b is 34mm and h22 is 35mm and a few other things.
Basically I'm looking to put an H22 head on the f20b... But I don't really know why, or how much it would cost (what would work, what I would need or have to replace)
Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks.

larger valves do not always make more power if that is your concern. in your case swapping the head on the f20b for an h22 would benefit you. larger valves on a turbo setup would not hurt you. just think if you have a valve which will allow more air and fuel into the engine it will help create more power. running a larger valve is a modification which also depends on supporting mod's. using larger valves is not always necessary and will not aid in more power on all engines. lastly, there is not more reliability by upsizing your valves. by doing this you will have less valve to valve clearance and depending on how large the pockets on the dome of the piston are, may not allow you to use larger valves. so if anything, using larger valves than the stock specifications will have less reliability. remember there are many variables to take into account
your asking a two part question. the "intake valves" diameter is not the only difference but i can tell you that on a vast majority of builds people will chose to only increase the size of the intake valve. now, im not sure if both of your question's are in regards to the difference's between the h22 and the f20b heads. but the intake valve is not the only difference and i suggest you do more research. seems you have lots to learn and i dont mean to be rude but i do not have the patience nor do i always have the time to explain the many differences between these two engines. there is plenty of information out there on the net and here on this site. some folks on here are generous enough to go into certain details ( i am not at the moment) but if you want you can PM me if you would like to and when i have time i can answer more questions you might have.
