the compression is ok BUT you can increase. its up to you. You can make good power now but you would greatly benifit from higher compression.

you could run it just like that but its gonna pull like a 9:1 compression car not like a 11:5 or up comp car ... and it also limits your cam choice alot

it wont be extremely powerful but will run fine and you can probably use regular 87 octane fuel without worries of ping/detonation.

any chance of hitting over 200hp since it's a fully built motor from top to bottom?

You should set your power goal closer to 150. Compression is everything.

if your head hasnt been milled or block decked and your using factory .023 head gasket to get your 9:1 compression. mill your head .020 and block .020 that will make it around 10.6:1. get a .013 head gasket and youll be right around 11:1. or save yourself some time and buy pistons.

milling that low is risky, since it would only be good to you, and you run a little close IMHO if there are any mistakes.

You're an NA engine now. start to understand what it takes to get NA power. with what you have now, you need to change pistons and be safe, or get another stock engine.

it might be easier to sell that entire block to someone who is interested in turbo charging their car or someone who already has that may be in need of a new bottom end. put that money towards a new block and you will be on your way. or just by some new slugs, either way you gotta change it up

i wouldnt mill that much maybe .010 and a 2 layer head gasket if you can get it to around 9.8:1 or 10.0:1 it would be a nice set up for the street

i think he can make a lil more then that, although b20vtecs have a longer stroke which really accounts for tq, stock low compression b20vtecs with 9.6:1 compression and stock b16 or gsr heads make about 170 whp on average. if he mills the head a lil and get a 2 layer head gasket and if the head is built with decent cams he can make close to the 180-185 range the 2.0 displacement makes up for some of the lack in compression

i was using the milling as a worst case scenario, but i do not recommend it,
and if your car was tuned for boost with that set up. your still running that setup just without the turbo,

i can agree with that also haha, you think a 50 shot would be good on a 12.3:1cr 2.1L with pro 2 cams? debating it

the motor wouldn't even know the difference with a small shot like that on it.

for sure, I just meant that the motor wouldn't have any issues relaiability wise at that level.

i would just change the pistons while the block is out. Just find out what bore it is and go from there. I would go with supertech piston's i had the same setup as you and i loved them. Its was 12.1comp on pump gas.

if i get a 3 layer head gasket will that help raise my compression at all from 9:1 to maybe around 10:1?
