Need help with carburetor
Hi,
I have an 85 civic and I just put in a Weber 32 ADFA (12) carb in and i have a problem with fuel getting everywhere...
I have three pictures to help explain the problem and to show how my fuel lines are set up.
The main concern is the vertical rod. when the spring is attached to that part, it puts pressure upwards which closes a valve for the fuel return line to control the amount of fuel in the carb. however, whenever that valve is closed, fuel dumps out from that area, following the rod down.
I rebuilt this carb today and did not see any issues in that area except when high pressure is pushing back from the fuel return line while the valve is closed. I also know that this carb kit was previously used on this same engine.
Now heres the other thing, if I disable that rod by taking the spring off, as it is in the picture, fuel dumps out into the carb like crazy and will start gurgling out a little bit, so it seems the spring definately needs to be attached.
one of me questions then is this: would a one-way valve make any difference for the fuel return line coming from that part on the carb?
Also, if anyone understands how this carb would work best with the fuel lines please look at the way it is currently configured and let me know if there is a better way to do it. thanks!

UPDATE: I was able to get the car to run until it was completely warmed up, however it sits at 4000 RPMS the entire time, and i can see gas dripping from the axillary venturi as well as from the emulsion tube, and they continue to drip after the car shuts off and gas pools up on the auxillary valve... so basically way too much gas for some reason...
Double check the way your fuel lines are plumbed into and out of the carb. Pay particular attention to the return lines, you will notice that the fuel pump has a provision for a return line too. Hope this helps.
I found some pictures of fiat's with this carb in it and one in particular had one line blocked off (the return line closest to the firewall) so I tried that out and now it runs without leaking gas at all!
the downside is it doesn't ever go below 3000 rpms unless I pull the wire off the idle kill solenoid, then it sits really rough at about 2000-2500.
tomorrow I will go to some shops that might have jetting kits and figure out how I should re-jet it to allow for better idle at least.
After it idles correctly I will hook up my wideband O2 and take it for some drives and see how the AFR is throughout the throttle range
