Help with dash lights please!!
On my 1993 civic si;
So I had my jdm cluster out tonight, and was cleaning some wires up in the dash and i somehow let the bare red w/black stripe wire for the dimmer switch touch the bare red wire for the cruise control button. naturally something fried. the cluster still lights up but the climate control does not. I think that the climate control lights are on the same circuit as the light for the hazard button, rear defrost button and cruise button because they are all out. I checked all fuses and can't see any blown. Do I have to replace the whole fuse panel or something or is there a specific fuse that runs these and i'm just missing it? thanks in advance.

ok i checked the power to the red/black wire, it does still work when i turn the lights on. i'm thinking fried dimmer switch? i did smell burning when they touched. the cruise button i dont care about cuz i eliminated it. im hoping you dont need the cruise button plugged in and working tho to make the others work again.
well this is interesting then. because of my jdm cluster, i do not need the dimmer switch hooked up for the cluster to light up, but will not light up the climate control. and i found out that yes indeed the dimmer switch is fried because of my mishap, i tried my cousin's dimmer switch and sure enough the climate control lights up again, as well, the cluster continues to light up, which for some reason was never an issue.
BUT the hazard button and fog light switch do not light up, which bugs me because I bought a jdm rear defrost switch and wouldnt mind seeing it light up. this was a problem before all of this other stuff though. i have figured out that every wire to the fog light switch works as it should except for one. the solid red i have no idea, it does not do anything. theres 4 i believe, 1 black w/red stripe, which is the headlight on power source, 1 black w/yellow stripe which gets power when the key is on if i remember correctly, 1 blue or something wire i cant remember what colour exactly but it lights the test light up when i press the button on. the red one does nothing no matter what.
whether you have answers for any of this or not, i appreciate you talking the time to read over this and your input Ron! what i might end up doing is just putting an aftermarket bulb set up of some sort in the fog light switch and give it headlight on power and call it a day. might just be easier in the end.

I did something similar when I put my stereo in, got the illum and dimmer wires crossed now I lost all my climate control and instrument panel lights. Clock and the a/c temp display have backlight when the lights are off (weird to me), but soon as you turn on the headlight switch I lose all illumination. Called Crutchfield, the guy told me my dimmer circuit was toast even though no blown fuses. Did some testing in the clock harness and found switched power with the lights on, just no lights. Not sure where to start, maybe dimmer switch also?
