Default JDM Type R Trans case?

OK give you a little background i have a 95 civic with a JDM Type R B18c, i went to a gas station and they had their gas fill cap thing sticking to far up and i cracked my transmission. It leaked Trans fluid everywhere.

So The insurance company from the Gas station is going to cover whatever it is to fix it. My question is the trans case is this something they can get? or am i able to use a Us-GSR case with my type r gears and LSD?

Please Advise

I'd just have them replace the tranny that you have. Much cheaper than paying for a case, then the labor to swap parts over. If they were replacing my ITR tranny, I'd make them replace the ITR tranny.

Its insurance, buy a used tranny and swap your parts to it and keep the extra gears lsd etc. from your busted tranny.

The fuel tankers refill the underground gas tanks by removing lids, usually in the parking lot area. That sucks; I have never seen one left open.

Check your motor mounts and make sure nothing got bent. Depending on how hard it hit, it might have done some more serious damage than just cracking the case.

But, if just the case got cracked, I would still make them pay to replace the whole tranny.

A GS-R case will work though to answer the question. I'd make them replace the entire trans though as well, or at least make them pay to, then I'd swap everything myself.

Oh, those things. OPs car must be lowered a lot. Usually you wouldn't be able to drive over them if the truck guy is refilling, since they have to ground the tanker. Don't know how the lid could just be open.

I'm with everyone else, just buy a new or slightly used OEM tranny, the ones that have been opened never seem to be quite as good (unless you send it off to one of the three or so decent tranny companies). Glad to hear they are paying for it. The fact you were driving over the tank covers with a lowered car and didnt notice one being open is an entirely different story. I dont drive over them to start and try to avoid anything thats off the ground more then 2 inches myself.....

BTW, he never said it was open, just that the entire thing was sticking out of the ground too far and he hit it.
