Default 91 ex throttle cable question

Short and simple, when i got my 91 ex, it had a y8 head with an EG throttle cable. I dont know why, its too short (barely swoops around the brake master cylinder.

Ive had no luck finding the throttle cable for an MPFI 88-91. So, what are my alternatives?

you have the correct one. the eg throttle cable is actually half an inch longer than an si one. that engine has a DPFI throttle cable.

i have both an eg throttle cable and an si one (pulled from a 91 ed7, says sh3 on it), that's how i know

When i give it gas, my TB has a tendency to stay open. If i put the pedal to the floor, when i release, most likely the TB will stay open, and I'll end up redlining until the throttle cable loosens up again.

It could be my TB, but honestly I've never looked inside, or cleaned it.

Even the dude i got the car from told me i had the wrong cable, needs to be replaced.

a cable is a cable, weather it be longer or shorter, if it fits/reaches it will work. my guess is the cable you have is getting old and could used greased. take it off and soak it down with wd-40 or something similar

plus if the cable is adjusted too tightly it will hold the throttle cable open a little bit. i've had that problem before.

It doesnt stay open a little bit...

If i was to smash out, flooring it in every gear, i would get stuck WOT and have to turn the car off. So once the TB is completely open, it stays that way.

Based on pick a part prices, they're $5-7.

I work in Monrovia.

when i got my 91 hatch i had this bead on the throttle cable. one was rubber, one was metal, and it would slide all about on the cable. if it got stuck in the throttle body it would idle around 3500 rpm. cut those bitches out with a pair of cutters and my idle was normal and never get my throttle stuck. I'm sure you would of noticed if it was there, but its worth a try.

I've had the car for like two months, i've put 10$ total into the tank, i bought the car when it was near empty.

I hardly drive this thing, i have a bone stock 88 lx that i was doing front end work on, and im almost done. This 91 ex is being garaged this weekend, motor being pulled, and the fun will begin. No swap though, pulling the motor to replace every rubber/plastic grommet, seal, and gasket on the head and block. Rebuilding tranny/clutch and swapping in an LX/DX 5th gear.

Then painting the entire thing.

I want to do the same with my hatch. I hate replacing all the rubber parts sporadically. Its a P.I.T.A!
