Default just got back from the track in 99 SI :(

im pretty dissapointed but i do have some excuses. First off i just bought the car 1 week ago so im not really used to starting off never even tryed before my first run. and the tires i have on there have about 50% tread left so when i shift from 1st to 2nd the tires just spin until i shift into 3rd . ok well thats enough excuses

the mods on the car are CAI, DC Sports 4-1 header, Apex N1 exhaust, and neuspeed short shifter

1st run(dumped the clutch at about 2500 RPM and shifted bewteen 7200 and 7500 RPM):

R/T .689
60' 2.644
330 7.020
1/8 10.548
MPH 68.81
1000 13.597
1/4 16.198
MPH 86.16

2nd run(dumped clutch at about 2800 RPM ((got lil wheel hop)) and shifted at about the same):

R/T .861
60' 2.512
330 6.845
1/8 10.384
MPH 69.73
1000 13.429
1/4 16.033
MPH 85.24

i know its pretty bad but im getting some falken azenis soon so i should do better.

u guys have any suggestions on mods after i get my tires.

CLIFF NOTES: Shitty tires, 16.198@86.16 MPH, 16.033@85.24

so you are saying there is no chirp, just a spin? I find that hard to believe with a stock b16.

And tires are not what you need. Just more time at the track.

i also find that hard to believe. you gotta have some serious horsepower comin out of that motor for something like that.

99-00 Si's are a bitch to get down a dragstrip quickly. A few people can do low 15's w/ bolt-ons (some even high 14's), others w/ those same bolt-ons might only do high 15's. Yes, it's frustrating.

Drive it VERY hard, shift it like you hate it, and wish for some luck.

And for God sakes, rev it to the redline!!!

why redline ?
Because that's where that torqueless, overhyped motor makes all its power.

8200 rpm is your fuel cut off, so don't hit it. 7600 rpm is your max hp, 7200 rpm is your max torque. IF you want some more power, try FI? or if your on a budget start with some camshafts/springs/retainers/adjustable cam gears.

i wouldnt think it can be done either but it does it it might not be for a long while but its more than a chirp (keep in mind my tires are shot)

would ctr cams help me out much, like would i get a difference in times, are they worth around $500 or should i just wait til chirstmas and get some JUN 3's??

falken azenis tires will certainly help ur 60 foots tiems...i have them on my sohc sol....and i dropped the clutch at liek 4200 and had liek a 2.2 second 60 foot on my way to a 15.8.....yea i dont know about spinning wheels all the way through second gear....my friends hatch wit a turbo gsr motor cant even do that

My friend did 15.6 on a 99 Si with AEM intake and a Muffler.

It took some practice to get it there though.

Shift it closer to redline, that'll keep u higher in the rpms once they drop.

Try slipping the clutch and modulating the gas from about 4500-5K.Itll take a few times, but youll get the hang of it.I went 15.3 doing this after i removed the blower.Mods were Aem CAI,Apex catback,ACT clutch and a test pipe.

Try feathering the clutch. Or if u dump, modulate the gas. While I'm sure azenis will help....practicing will get u to drop those 60ft times even with ur current tires.

And maybe I read it wrong...but how the hell are u spinning all the way to 3rd?
