What size thickness should i be looking for on a 2 layer head gasket? I see jhpusa has a buddy club one that is 0.5mm. Is that about the two layer thickness?

so the buddy club one i posted is in fact a 2 layer and will raise my compression up .2-.3? just confirming before i click check out
I really don't know why you would pay money for a 2 ply when you can just do it by removing a layer from a oem or feelpro h.g. for half the cost. idk I guess Im just a tight ***.

Its about the same price and id rather just slap the headgasket on without modification, ya know? Its also about the same price. Im putting pr3 pistons in my b17, if i could have found the p30s i would have just used the stock 3 layer but i want the compression to be around 11:1.

its super easy, just use a drill bit a tiny bit bigger then the inside hole on the rivets and drill the rivets out, the headgasket will come apart pretty easy, I copper spray both sides of the top layer if doing a one ply. if doing a two ply just use top and bottom layer. all in all its pretty self explanatory.
also it will feel different when torquing the head down due to less layers to crush. it makes it alot easier to tq the head actually.

I just looked at my old 3 layer and see the rivets there is like 4 or 5. So just drill those out and use the bottom layer and i can run the one layer with no leaks and the same torque settings? Oh and spray both sides with copper spray?
they sell them at autozone, and yes copper spray both sides of the gasket. I like to use the top layer, although its the same as the bottom pretty much.
as for tq settings I used the same as stock.

Another quick question. The b16 and b17 use the same head gasket right? Autozone has the 99 civic si head gasket for 56.99 but when i ask him if the part number is the same for the 92 integra gsr he says they do not offer any for the 92 integra gsr. Just wanna make sure i can use the b16 head gasket from the 99 civic si.
ya the 99-00 si h.g. will work, b17 is the same block as b16. call around on the h.g. because they will price match, sometimes you can fool them into selling it dirt cheap
A typical 2-layer head gasket will yield 4/10 of a point in + compression
There is a ZERG Head gasket online at some sites, that is pretty good quality, and about $80..
Just my .02
