Signal lights on ITR
Hey all, I am still pretty new to the ITR section, I looked at the sticky regarding this question and could not find anything. I just bought some OEM amber signal lights to replace the ugly clear ones that were on the car from the previous owners. So now before I put them on the car, I was curious to know if I can do a LED strip or a LED bulb and in your opinion how do you think it would look?
Thanks

You did the right thing. IMO run the stock amber lenses and the OEM bulb. I'm not a fan of mixing and matching LEDs on a car that didn't come with them in the first place.

the leds wont look good IMO, regular bulbs will make the entire housing glow, leds will have more of a circle spot just where the bulb is.
Not to mention speeding up the blinker like it is having a seizure. I did that on one of my old civics, just to take them back off. I think the OEM ambers are sexay!
I understand the glowing part.
The blinking as if its having a seizure is due to the relay that was being used. Its because LEDs use less power, so the car assumes that the bulb burned out, so causing it to flash quicker. I know there is a fix for it, I believe a different ampage of fuse would do the trick or something like that.

Honestly, i really don't get it why do people like the amber that much, i think the clear looks way better at least on a black car, is it a JDM cult thing or something like that?

I think the colors of lights are like clothes, its just fashion that changes over time. I remember having clear corners back in the early 2000s and then it went to the black housing. Just change of taste.
Fair enough, for me it reminds of the old 80's car that came with yellow headligths, either way, and keeping things on topic, would that led signal lights cause issues with the law ?
If I were in an accident (that involved a turn) with someone who had modified their turn signals, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'd point that out to the officer.
And if your state or county has visual inspections, not sure if it would pass or not, either.
Just seems like a lot of hassle for a mod that looks worse and provides zero superior function over stock (and questionable legality).

I took 10 mins out of my busy life and installed them last night. I first polished them with some Maguires PlastX and popped them on. WOW what a difference, the clear ones made the car look blah! The amber on the DC2s look rich with color and makes the car stand out so much more, in a better way
