91 acccord lx problems
My 91 accord lx wont rev over 3500 rpms. Its about to make me mad. I know a little about cars but ive never had a problem like this before. When i go to start it up its takes a second before it will start and when it does start and you hit the gas it will not go above above 3500 rpms. Any suggestions on what it might be? Would it be the o2 sensor? Would it be the throttle position sensor? Would it be the crank sensor? I have no clue on what to do or where to start. BTW it has a f22a engine bone stock with the exception of a short ram intake.

what do you mean it wont go above 3.5k rpm? does the car shut off? does the tach just stop but the car still runs? is it an auto or 5 speed? are there any other problems with the car?
it doesnt shut off when it gets to 3500, it acts as thought its at its limit but the limit is 8000rpm on my car. Its a 5 speed tranny. Even if your driving it it limits at 3500 and wont go past in 1st - 5th gear.
that seems pretty weird to me. never had this happen to me.
i would check everything you questioned before. it seems like any of the things you listed could be the problem. right now i am out of town and cant even check my haynes.

update: i have changed the injectors cleaned the fuel rail and had the distributor checked. The results after i changed those were good for about all of 1 minute. It reved up as it should and then went back to doing the same thing it was doing before. My next task is to check fuel filter and install another ecu. other than that i have no clue what else i can do.

Might have the answer.
From what I've read, you're suppose to rev up to 8k, probably running a h22 or something similar. Sounds like you are revving it up right after start-up, but you must first wait and let the engine warm up for the oil pressure to warm up or whatever for vtec to engage, if you dont you will not be able to rev up to max RPM.

its an f22a1 non vtec. one thing after another with this car to be honest. i dont have any coolant pressure on the radiater hoses and dont know what is causing it. It may be linked what is causing the reving issue but dont know. Ive changed the thermostat and stll didnt solve the problem with that. I put it another ecu but havent had a chance to test it cause its been so hott outside.
If you can unbolt the down pipe to cat and see if the engine will rev.
If it does, then you know you have some blockage in the exhaust. Could be a physically failing cat, or faulty muffler. Have you hit any large bumps/bottomed out recently? Any funny burning smells when you try to rev the engine?
sorry but im new to this site and have no clue how to work anything..but i need help..i have a 91 accord with a h22 swap in it..it starts fine but its revs up and down.have no clue what to do.
no smells that i know of. The cat was gutted before i got the car and it new cat back exhaust and the header is new all the way down to the cat. The cat is the only old part on the exhaust. I found out that the f22a1 i got was taken out of a 92-92 prelude and the only difference was the ecu but the f22a1 was also stock to the 91 accord. So far i havent figured out the problem as to whats causing it. I appreciate the ideas of whats causing keepem coming as i will check on the ideas and try to fix them hoping that it will fix it.
