I'm stuck on how long I should feel safe about running steel braided brake lines from the MC. I'm ditching ABS, i'm going with an aftermarket adjustable proportioning valve for the rear brakes, and I don't care too much for hard line. What I want is to run braided lines from the master cylinder to the stock lines (to the location they are located within the underhood area; not all of the way to the calipers) for about 1 to 1.5 feet. I just don't want to rely on my old worn out brake line flaring tool. I'd like to go with AN fittings and steel braided line.
Here's my overall questions:
1) How long should the steel braided lines be as far as maximum length?
2) Which fittings should I use coming from the hard line going into the steel braided line?

length of the lines make no difference. pressure remains constant in the entire system. just make sure you use the correct/same diameter lines you are replacing.
