Hard to shift into gear when car gets into operating temperature
I couldn't shift into first gear and had to shift into second with problems after driving the car for a while. It's a 99' civic Si. I have new 20w-50w conventional motor oil in the transmision. It's what I've always used because the manual said I could use it. After the car cooled down it slips into gears easily. The clutch has about 25k miles on it. It's an excedy stage two. What do you guys think the problem could be? Thanks.
you need to replace your tranny oil with honda MTF asap. i always use honda oil because it is tessted with honda oil.
you are running motor oil in the trans that is the problem. yes you can do it however you need to run to honda and get some MTF ASAP!!!!!

It works well in bearing lubrication... but doesn't protect the gear surfaces or improve shift quality like other transmission oils do.
He never said it was a "daily", either. You're assuming that it is. Like it would be wrong of me to assume that it's turbocharged since that's in his username.

I would agree with the clutch locking you out.
But as far as the oil, I recommend honda ATF to stock cars where people like OEM stuff in it, otherwise there are plenty of much better alternatives out there that are looking into protecting your transmission as opposed to increasing fuel economy.
Honda ATF of a few years ago was another story, honda ATF of today, not so much.
