classic washed my engine bay, got a CEL, reset battery, codes gone, lol wut??
its a 2000 accord F23A1-vtec 4AT
kinda like title says, i tried not to get water on anything important, anyways when i turned the car on i got a CEL probably instantly,
so i unhooked the battery and hooked it back up for a while and the code went away,
just wondering, anybody know what the heck that was all about?
the car didnt act any funny either but i have not really driven it any other than to move it into the garage
the method:
i did not spray any silicone crap in there either if anything i mighta accidentally gotten a little water on the O2 sensor but water doesnt really hurt them fyi silicone does kill them.
i mixed a bucket with some car wash and water and a natural bristle brush and just got to scrubbin, rinsed off carefully with the hose, not spraying the motor or accesories especially since i dont have my upper timing belt cover on
GUYS my enigine and tranny itself are remarkably clean before starting so i didnt bother with those, basically just the perimeter of the bay
as far as maintenance:
the cat and both o2 sensors and dizzy cap, rotor, plugs and wires and oil change all up to date.
also what pins do you short out to get the codes to flash?

If the code does not come back whatsoever then you might be fine. Keep driving it for a few more days to see if it'll pop back up. If it does, go to Autozone or somewhere to get the code checked out to see what it is and start from there.
thanks--i've had this car for a few years already, i love it and know it pretty well, so that was the plan originally if the code comes back up get it scanned, and if it doesnt then it's probably fine
what i really wanted to ask honda-tech was basically taking bets on what code it was lol
know what i mean? i'm sure its nothing but i dont have much of a lead on what code that would be, the curiousity is kicking me for not scanning it when i had the chance

It's hard to say what code it is. To really find out is to get it scanned when it was on like you said. So no one will know as there's tons of sensor under the hood of an Accord.
I'm betting it was a Primary H2O sensor DTC. Typically, humidity over 100% will set this DTC. Unfortunately, the battery was disconnected so we will never know.

I would guess a mis-fire code...
Did you happen to get water in the spark plug holes?
The water, if it got in there, will cause the wire to ground the spark thru the water and not fire the cylinder properly.
A little water in the dizzy will do somewhat the same thing.
You need a OBDII code reader to check codes.

you cant mean to tell me you havent heard of the paperclip trick, you use a jumper wire between two specific pins and turn the car to run and the CEL will blink a type of two digit morse code at you, then you just reference to the list....
but i dont remember which pins you are supposed to jump!!!!!

OBDII codes start with a P then the next digit tells if it is a manufacture specific code (1)or a generic (0) then there are the code numbers say 420.
This is alot of info to get out of a couple of flashes.
On OBD-0 and 1 cars this is true, you can just jumper the pins. I have not heard of any way to get an OBDII car to do this.

My '98 Civic has it, for example.

but I would still take it to autozone to see if any codes are still stored

Mine definitely has the 16 pin DLC. It's on the driver's side. But it also has a 2 pin connector tucked up next to the glovebox. They can be hard to find even on the models I know have them.
