I Have been looking at the MSD 8864 Distributor Jumper Harness and i want to know if anyone has made one on their own before. It really does not look to be TOO hard. Anyone have any thoughts?

 

Am I wrong in assuming that it's just a simple OBD2A to OBD1 Honda distributor jumper harness? And not some kind of jumper harness for some kind of differently wired aftermarket distributor?

Because if that's all it is, then you could go to a junkyard and get some connectors, and go to Honda (or Acura) for the correct metal pins (or solder wires together), and make your own harness. Assuming you have an OBD1 car and you're installing an OBD2A (or B-series) engine, you would get the 2 male connectors off of an OBD1 distributor and the female connector off of an OBD2A engine harness (not a B-series or an HX Civic/Integra/Del Sol). The wires match up pin for pin, you simply move the 2 wires on the OBD1 plug to the 2 bottom pins on the OBD2A connector. Also check my signature to compare the wiring.

I'm not sure on how much those MSD brand jumper harnesses cost, but other companies make them as well. Check out sponsors on the Sponsor section, especially sponsors who make ECU jumper harnesses.

I have all the parts to make the jumper. The obd1 connectors off the obd1 single cam distributor and the obd2 integra distributor clip off the integra harness. From what Incan gather it looks pretty cut and dry.

The only thing that bothers me is there is a red wire on the obd2 distributor clip. Other then that it looks like I can do it

 

I made the Obd2-obd1 Distributor jumper harness and the car fired right up no distributor codes. I will post pictures tonight. Seems to be working good anyone have any thoughts?
