Default shady mech put a y7 head on a z6 block. problems

my cousin took his 94ex to get his head done. the mech said it was cracked and installed a new head. the head he put was a non vtec y7 head. aside from the CELs, they used his old valve cover and didnt mill the head.

my question is what other problems could he be looking at with his motor like this. im guessing a blown out HG in the near future.

also the mech is shady and pulled a gun and told me to get the hell out his shop.lol

i pretty much called him out in his office about how it wasnt the right head and i even ran the CELs. i guess he got all butt hurt started telling me to get the f#%k out his office. i just got up and walked out. dude was big and pissed off!! i guess he grabbed his gun as i was walking out. maybe my cousin saw the gun and got intimidated. the mech told him it was a cracked head. i was pissed because i told him to just mill his old head with new HG. i offered free labor. instead he took it to that clown and now this is what he gets. dude even said he needed the old head as a core. i didnt even realize a d16z6 VC could fit the y7 head.

Unless they used 1 '96-'00 D-series head bolt/stud, where the VTEC solenoid would be, the head should already be leaking. Obviously, unless they changed the ECU as well, it's running the wrong one. Either get the right head and take it to a legit shop, or get a new ecu or get the stock ecu chipped & programmed with the right maps.

And you should expect the comments that you're getting; this it H-T. Either you did something to tick off the guy enough for him to get a gun, or your cousin took it to some crack or meth head to try and save money. Regardless of what the reality is, I hope it's a lesson learned.

Well, if a mechanic pulled a gun a me, i would call the cops, and get his freaking *** arrested.
Next time, dont go a nut mechanic, and please tell me you learned a lesson? Theres a reason why shops are cheeper then others, big ones.

guys i agree 1000x. like i said it wasnt my deal. anyway thanks civicspoon. i forgot about that oil passage for vtec. i already figured an old dx ecu would kill the CELS. would a p75 do a better job running his motor since he now has a 1.6 dx motor. lol atleast his motor can rev to 7200 safely.. ha ha
