Motorboating idle
Just got the 94 Del Sol S running again after splicing in a new ground for the main relay...stupid wires...anyways. I am noticing now after driving around for a while, I am noticing only during idle the car will seem to motorboat inconsitently. At times it seems like it might die but always keeps running. It may be 30 seconds or so before it motorboats again but never consistently.
History: Spark Plugs replaced less than a year, fuel pump, and fuel filter. The engine is the 1.5 L and was said to be rebuilt. 281k on chassis, 50k on motor? Other than that most of the parts seem to be in good working order and no leaks.
So, question is what may be causing the motor boating at idle. My first hunch is timing but would it make sense for it to only motorboat in idle? Spark plug wires? Injectors?
Wonder if anyone has some insight on the issue or experienced it themselves. Thanks a bunch.
