How do I seperate balljoints from the lower control arm?
Got the pin/nut off....but I can't get it apart.
I'm told I need some kind of puller or something......But I don't have one.
Is there any 'ghetto' way to do it?

Make sure that the nuts are off...
Get a big hammer, like a 5-pound or something, and beat the hell out of the side of the lower arm, right by the ball joint. Be careful not to to hit the joint, and don't hit the arm like you want to break it, just really hard.
The arm should drop off the joint after a few hits. If not, get the puller...

YES.
Beating the hell out of it is the way to go.
Don't use the "separator boots" because all they do is tear your balljoint boots.

Yeah just get a big *** hammer and hit right by the ball joint. Several solid whacks later you will see the seperation, or at least be able to feel it seperate when you hit it. Like he said- dont hit the ball joint!

put a jack on the rotor, make sure the jack is on the rotor only and nothing behind the rotor. Jack it up a little, then bang the **** out of the lower controll arm, always works for me with 2-3 hits...
DANGIT!
I've been going at this one ball joint for over an hour......it WON'T BUDGE!!!!!!
And in the process I've torn up the ball joint.
Wahoo

A pitmen arm puller would have worked way better than using the hammer. You can get this at sears or pep boys, I got mine at a freight harbor. The one the messes up the boot is a pickle fork.
Just rent the puller from autozone, like $22 and you get the money back when you return it. Also becareful not to strip the lower ball joint tread.
