How does the S2k use forged pistons on Al block?
I would like to know if anyone came across any articles on the method Honda got the S2k to use forged pistons on an Al sleeved block. If the s2k isn't Al sleeved, then I'd understand. Thanks for any info/insight direction....

they coat the pistons with IRON...what you mean is how do they use forged aluminum pistons with the aluminum and carbon fiber cylinder liners? its called frm (fiber reinforced matrix) its a aluminum oxide soaked fiber weave that has the thin layer of aluminum as the cylinder wall...the way they use forged pistons in those blocks (like s2000 and NSX) is they Fe COAT THEM, they coat the pistons with IRON to reduce the inherent friction issues that would come up with aluminum on aluminum; come on guys......
Exactly!
Here's a nice demonstration of Al on Al for anyone that wants to try it out:
Get two pieces of aluminum foil and rub them together...the sheets will get little globs because the microscopic high points on each sheet exceed melting temp and the aluminum actually welds itself together.
