Breaking Clutch Forks..?
I finally got my car ready and was on the dyno, we were just about to put boost into it when the clutch went to the floor. started looking at the slave and went on to notice that my clutch fork was broken in about 5 places. I had the same exact thing happen to another clutch fork and I never even ran the car(maybe it was damaged previously not sure) Either way I want to know why this is happening. I am running a brand new s2000 clutch master cylinder(installed properly with spacer, fits just like my oem one) -3 braided line to a brand new slave cylinder. Has anybody else had this or heard of this problem? Either way I have a tilton throwout bearing kit that i am going to use instead and that should eliminate most of my problems. thanks for the input guys!
I had this problem on my 96 civic ex coupe which is my daily driver and was daily driven for the last 3 years until I got a bike.
I do not know why the clutch fork broke, but I had to replace it in order to get my car running again. I think it was just due to normal wear and tear over time. I did alot of commuting and highway driving too.
I might also point the finger to my dual diaphragm action 2ms 6 puck sprung clutch too. That may have played a part in why it cracked. To this day I have no definitive cause as to why it cracked. I even showed the fork to an experienced master honda technician at the local honda dealership and he was surprised. It was the first time in his 30yrs as a honda tech that he had seen something like that.

I have broken clutch forks aswell. i was only running stock slave. stainless line to stock master cylinder. comp clutch stage 4 with sprung 6 puck. snapped the fork right in half. ordered a new one and had a buddy weld a plate onto it to box it in. no issues since

did you adjust the clutch pedal? you can push the pressure plate in to far(which can damage it) and then all the pressure is on the fork. try putting the engagment closer to the floor. if that doesnt work put a clutch stop off the floor.
yeah the clutch probably got overengaged then, that would make sense i didnt get a chance to get the pedal stop in yet, but I will now! Ill get pics of the fork when i get the trans off tommorow or friday

Previous fork was cracked in three spots, right around the ball area...this one cracked severely right on the ball.
Jared did tell me that previously when the car was more "stock" he still had a really stiff clutch pedal even on a very tame normal pressure plate so I am not sure whats up with this monster of a car
yeah this sucks! My forks have been cracked the past 2 times i've had my transmission out. I have a spec twin disk. My friend also has the spec twin and has broken one also. I'm really wanting to get the hydraulic throwout bearing so i can stop worrying about this...

its been over flexed to failure. im running a spec triple disc stock fork no problems ever. adjust the pedal just off the floor and you should be good.
Yeah if you look at the pictures it was just starting to crack there too. I'm gonna figure out how to adjust the pedal inside the car so it grabs off the floor a little bit more and not all the way at the bottom.
Not trying to discredit anyone's abilities here, but I have seen tons of clutches installed without luging the shaft the throw out bearing slides on. That can put a ton of extra load on the fork. May not be the problem, but its something to consider
