Default Tein Basics...

Ya my Tein Basics are making a weird squeaking sound in the back. It didn't do it for a few days but then after that it started. It only happens when the car is moving or is pushed on. I think it might be the rubber rubbing on the spring.... They've only been installed for about 2 weeks....anyone know what it could be?

Mine do the same thing, its the rubber peice that goes around your spring its just rubbing against the coil, Its a annoying sound.
all you got to do is jack your car up put it back in place and let your car down.

Its ****ing annoying as all hell.

I ran the car with them fine for like 3 days, then all of a sudden the rear right side starts squeaking like crazy. A few days after that, the left rear side starts making the same sound.

Is there a way to make the sound go away completely, because i don't feel like jacking up my car every couple of days to re-place the rubber?

could be a lot of things...

try squirting a tiny bit of lube on the nylon seal where the shaft goes in/out

Just make sure it sets in the coil right, i havent heard it since i acutally jacked it up and did it right. You could get like a peice of like small section of radiaitor hose and rap it around it so it doesn't make any noise i did that to and it worked. The reason it does it is, when you hit like woopy doo's your car comes up alot and the rubber shifts, and it comes out of place. Nothing bad just the sound.

I just jacked the car up and put some white grease between the dust cover and the spring rubber on the top part of the coilover and it still squeaks.... I have no clue what else could work....

like i said before...sometimes the shaft going in/out of the nylon seal can cause squeaking..put a little bit of lube on it...if you cant access it, squirt some at it using an aerosol can that has a straw.

hes talking about lubing the piston shaft that goes in and out of the shock body.

the squeeking is your dust covers against the springs. I have tein ss and it did the same thing, would go away and come back, until i cut the dust covers off.

I like my tein SS. I got them used, got lucky cuz I got them for $400 and none are blown.

The way I see it, if you are like myself or the majority of people who lower their daily drivers, most of us dont autocross. I know the SS has the damping adjustability and height adjustability but honestly, I lowered it to where I wanted it, set the damping to my taste, and forgot about it. haha

The dust covers suck, mine some how folded over on the inside and dragged across the threads. As for the squeaking, check the camber arm in the back. I have basics too and when I hear squeaking I spray the camber arm bushings with lithum grease. It makes a mess but it works for a week or two.
