purchasing idle air control valve
i was just wondering what peoples experiences with purchasing an iacv were? Any one buy the ebay ones and have problems? i really dont wanna buy any more parts from ebay but if there is no problems maybe i will. i also dont wanna spend 200$ and find out it didnt fix my problem. Also i called the dealer and they said they are discontinued so now i just need advice on where to purchase from.
Thanks

Josh, if money is of concern, and usually it is, you should change your approach a little. First of all - determine if IACV is what you need to fix the problem, if it is, why not fix the one you have, and fixing IACV means cleaning it with seafoam or carb cleaner, that is only 10.00 bucks a can!

If that doesn't work then you can invest some money in a new one.

ok let me explain my problem a little and maybe you can help me out further.
I purchased my crx as a non running car that has sat for over 3 years. when i start it it takes a little longer then it is suppose to to fire up. sometimes i have to crank stop and then crank again and it fires right up idleing at just under 2k rpms. after it warms up the idle drops to between 200 and 400 rpms usually (not hunting. and sometimes it will stay at 900 for a little bit but ends up dropping back low. Last night i just thought id see what happens if i open up the car and take it to redlline in 2nd gear to see if that happens to free something up. well after that it started having the hunting idle problem from 1000 to 1200 rpms for the rest of the night. it actually made the drivability better though. today i get back in and its no longer hunting its back to the usual low idle and almost dieing at stoplights. also sometimes i have to rev the car up to like 2.5 or 3k from a stop or else it starts hesitating really bad and i have to push the clutch in and rev it up. it doesnt do this all the time though.
Well thats my story. any suggesions
thanks

and yes i have taken it off and cleaned it before. it actually didnt look to bad but there was some dirt and grime that came out with it. didnt really fix anything though.
Well, I am not that great of a mechanic myself, but after 3 years of sitting, I would start with a complete tuneup: oil, filters (including fuel), checking spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, perhaps seafoam treatment, timing adjustment. Then if symptoms still persist I would move onto more cumbersome stuff.
sorry i should of said those things. i got the car running about 2 months ago and have spent plenty of money already on freshing it up. cap, rotor, new bat, fuel pump(reason it didnt run), plugs, wires,o2 sensor( might explain poor drivability cause it seemed like it got worse after this, i used a universal) o2 didnt change anything with the idle though. and im sure im forgetting a few things but yeah all basic tune up and more. also changed the fuel filter and i am running header because they were cheap and i was hoping it would fix an exhaust leak and i could rule out clogged cat as a problem. also adjusted the valve lash. i read that to tight of clearance could cause burnt valves and they were a little tight in places but i dont think they were that bad. timing is spot on. guestimated for dizzy timing cause i dont have a timing light but i got it to idle a little better. might try to actually do that right this weekend at my buddies. Thats about it i think.
Any one got a good stock o2 sensor for sale also let me know.
