Issue with air vents???
So I drive on dirt roads daily to get into work and I have been having problems with my vents on my 93 civic lx. I have owned the car for maybe 2 months now and this problem has existed since I got it. Bascially, I have the vents closed, or at least the button says they are closed, to outside air and my windows are always up when im driving on the dirt roads yet I can see and smell tons of dust getting into the car. I know its not normal because I had a 93 dx before this and drove with the vents closed and windows up and never had this massive amount of dust getting in. Does anyone have any recommendations? Im thinking either the vents are not actually closing, which if anyone has a recommendation of where or what I can check? Or if anyone else knows where it may be coming in from that would be great. Any help at all cause as soon as I clean off the dust from inside the next day it fills up again. It is not normal. Thanks!
Yea, but I had a the same year civic before and drove in the exact same conditions and it did not get much if any at all dust in it. It is something with this car thats making it get dusty. Could the vent be stuck open somewhere? Where should I look under the dash/carpet for openings? Thanks.
When the engine is off and the key is in the accessory position depress the fresh/recirculate button. Do you hear a motor noise? If not then the fresh/recirculate motor unit (if the DX is so equipped) most probably is at fault. It is a failed component on the internal control board. I had the same problem on my 88 Accord. I reverse engineered the circuit and fixed the problem. It's worked great ever since.
