1st time at the track. Any suggestions?
Last night was the first time I've ever been to the dragway near here, 1/8 mile.
1st two runs were up at 11.2 due to not taking off at all, and being kind of nervous. Speed was at around 65. After about 3 trips I got comfortable, and it came down to 10.2-10.5 all night and speeds were from 67.5-69. Oh yea, 60ft were all pretty much 2.4 sec.
My setup:
DOHC ZC, Iceman intake, DC sports header, and Yokohama AVS's. I never changed the tire pressure. Should I drop it a little for better traction? I spun through 1st and 2nd and I launched at 2K RPMs. It may be the track b/c I was beating 2 GSR's down consistently, but wasn't able to get any lower times.
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to practice some more.
TIA for any suggestions.

Those 60 ft times are pretty high, but I'm sure you will figure out your launch. I would recommend:
1.Dropping your front tire pressure to 30-32 psi, jacking up the rear to 36.
2.Launching at a higher RPM. My best runs were when I launched at 3000 rpm. If you just spin that high, try feathering the clutch and not just dumping it. The launch is EVERYTHING.
3.Shifting faster. Are you sure you have your technique down? Not dissing you or anything, just saying. My near stock CRX pulled 10.3 1/8 mile times, with a 2.2 60 ft. My D16Y8 pulled 9.8's. Your car is certainly faster than 10.2-10.5, because it's nearly the same power as my Y8.
4. Practice. Can't stress this one enough. Trust me, it makes a HUGE difference. My times droppped in the area of .2-.4 seconds faster in the 1/4 just by practicing!
Have one on me, and good luck!

Dropping tire pressure will not really help you if you are running regular street tires. if you lower tire pressure in street tires they become convex like a skateboard upsidedown. leaving you with less traction. i pulled 2.1 60' times on street tires with correct tire pressure. I also was launching at 2500-2700. It sounds like you just need a lil practice.
