Great Lakes Dragaway - Import Wars Race #3 - June 20th.

Who is going to be there? If you are in the local area and are not able to make it, what are the reasons for not coming. What can be done to get more racers to show up to the events?

So far this year we have only had 1 car in the Pro-FWD class.

There is a class for all cars.

Super Street - Bracket racing - 15.00 and slower
Super Mod - Bracket racing - 13.00 - 14.99
Super Quick - Bracket racing - 12.99 and quicker - Sportsman ladder
PRO-FWD - Heads up

 

Long as my car is fully tuned, I'll be there.

 

We've been getting our cars dialed-in, etc etc.... I'm sure there will be more IL and some WI guys that will be showing up especially for the PRO-FWD class.

Hopefully track prep improves, but without a good turn-out track officials probably wont consider it. Lets make it good guys!!!

We should have a couple cars going this time around. Our hatch is back together, getting it back from paint tomorrow and will dyno the new setup and see how everything goes. Regardless, we'll have a couple other cars there.

 

Hopefully we can get a turnout this event in PRO-FWD. I would hate to see that class not come back next year due to poor turn out. Its awesome to see 10sec side by side racing.

 

I am about 30 mins from the track for work. I have been up a few times to race some buddies cars of mine. I am going to try and bring my car out from PA for an event. It would be nice if you guys posted up the rules and some more information. Like payouts and things like that. Last year when I asked about it I was given a link to go to to ask questions. It was some other forum. I signed up and the account was not approved so I could never ask any questions. I think you need to get the word out more and do some better promoting also maybe do like IFO if a racer drives a certain distance their admission is free.

still undecided, have the MAP event in Brainerd, MN on the 26th.

Waldo, wanna go up to Brainerd and represent Beeyond? We will be going up on 25th and camping for 3 days and racing, this is a really fun event.

 

To have more people come run more heads up classes, they are always a crowd pleaser.

 

Well the one heads up class we currently have has had no entries. I dont think people want to see 13 or 14 second cars running heads up. They want to see the faster cars.

Not sure guys... MN trip is far!!! Trying to dial in some mid 10sec street cars(93octane) while we speak. Not 100% sure yet, but we'll race somewhere!!!

Do you guys have flyers for the events? What do you do to get the word out and try and get some more cars or faster cars to the events? Do you spam the message boards? Go to all the local car meets and hand out flyers, answer questions?

I am not sure if bucks0604 is in charge of the event but it seems to me like there is lack of promoting of the event.

 

Ill be there, im always there!!! I heard they were redoing HWY KR. Does anyone know if the road is a mess. It might be a pain for some cars to drive 5 miles on a torn up road from 94.

If you don't take it to GLD, then what other events will you run it at? If you have a car that's ready to go, just take it. I remember making a lot of events many years back and the people at the track weren't all that bad. I remember Bee was a regular in the heads up class too. Is the track that bad now?

 

^^^^^^^^^ Good point!!! if your from wisconsin/ northern Illinois represent your local track. Ive been down it plenty of times, its not the bad. If not just come for the food.(good stuff)

 

the track is not that bad i was just there last weekend and car held up fine...im only traping 130mph but there were guys running 8sec 1/4 mile passes with no issues all day long...so i dont see why you guys keep saying its junk...if you run 10s or faster you all should know the car is all over the road anyways....just my 2cents...

They simply said straight up last time that they didn't prep the track at all on sunday because they didn't want the stock cars to break. The car we brought was on more power and ran quite a bit slower. So if this zero prep continues it will suck, but previous import wars events the track was really good - so who knows.
