Default calling H22 experts!!! need help fast!

ok i have searched numerous times and to me found inconclusive results.

i have found that you can because the heads different, ive found you can only do it in a jdm h22a...so on and so forth.

im looking to pick up some h22a-S cams for a friend of mine and i have compaired the sizes of the to the crower website and apparently that are in between the stg1 and the stg2.

what im wondering is this like a ITR cam swap in a B series and you can use the factory valvetrain or? im just trying to find out what is a ok option to suggest to my buddy.

his H22 consists of bpi intake(3in)
kiDD triY
60mm exhaust
tuned ecu with vtec a 5k and 8k limiter.

my suggestion was going to look at the retainers and try to lathe alittle from the inner area to add a touch of clearance to the guides, hes not looking to upgrade the valvetrain....im hoping not to have a Boom happen..

Some say that the guides sits lower on the JDM head compared to the USDM, that might be a problem and that you'll need a JDM H22 head for the cams.

Others said that once you get the JDM Valvetrains in, you should be fine.

I'm leaning towards the first part that the guides actually sits lower on the JDM head. Thats why some experience major rocker pad wear.

you may run into issues with the retainer hitting, most of the older stock h22 retainers were pretty thick compared to newer/aftermarket stuff.

You cant rev the motor out with these cams and stock springs in the event that you do have enough room.. asking for valve float. Been there done that and have a spare head full of bent valves to show for it.

Maybe get the JDM valvetrains or supertech springs with softer seat pressure?

Its a toss up. theres no concrete info on it, its all hearsay and guessing. You're going to have to just do it and see what happens if you want it. Or upgrade valvetrain.
