Well....The Type-S engine will be exactly like a Type-SH engine with regards to oil filter and ATTS mounting. That's the easiest way to rule it out. As for the SiR S-spec vs any other H22A, the serial number can be used. There's a thread somewhere (not necessarily on H-T) that explains the breakdown of the JDM H22A serial numbers.

wrong the The Type-S engine is not exactly like a Type-SH engine with regards to oil filter and ATTS mounting. for the 220 hp h22 the head will be stamped p5p and so will the pistons , unless a stock motor was altered

Wrong dude!!!! The head does not stamped P5P. The block and intake manifold have P5P stamps. Pretty much the same as an SH

lol why are you all making this as complicated as possible.
if this is a stock motor first thing that would be a dead give away is the cams. a true type s cams have a blue tint to them. and as well a true type s has 11:1 compression. as i stated above a cam inspection is the easiest way to tell.if you bought the motor and was advertised as type s check the cams for blue tint. if its not there get your money back.
and if you bought it from a buddy or sm1 claiming type s and no blue tint cams then its not a true type s

My head has a WP5P sticker and a P13 HF-2 stamp. My IM has a P13 HF5 stamp.
