so i was drivinf down the road and a sti pulls next to me. i have a y8 in a ek hatch and we raced and he won. my question is. what do u guys think i need to beat stis and evos in my hatch

STI's run at about 300+ HP

 

you need 10 more years driving experience and a boosted b or k LSD with 250+whp

Yes, true to a point but its all about the power to weight ratio no matter what from a dig a evo or sti will burn you due to the AWD action but, from a 35 roll or 45 roll. Civic hatch weights close to a thousand pounds lighter then some of the new evos. ive heard of d16's beating them if build properly and boosted properly but your talking about alot of money to do such project! but it is possible!

 

250 hp will have u rollin out on sti's and evos. Just make sure ur already rollin when u start haha. Itl take slicks to beat them in a 8th and prob never in the 60 foot, i could c 250hp beatin them in a quarter

 

Yeah power to weight ratio is going to play a huge role in the ability of your car to accelerate. There are of course two ways to get a better power to weight ratio, more power, or a lighter car. I remember reading somwhere that 100lbs of weight in a car is about 5hp and 1/10 on your 1/4 mile.

 

what did you think would happen running your stock y8 against an damn sti?? you're gonna need to make a lot better driving decisions before you decide to put money into a new motor.

I couldn't even beat my friends 2004 Sti with Intake, header, exhaust and I had a semi built h2b motor not tuned though.. 5 Pulls

I say any thing over 200whp is fair game for an STI. I will race him again though after I get it tuned.
