Default compressor, gun

I am considering spraying my car for the first time. I will probably be shooting either PPG shopline or OMNI.

I was looking at getting this gun:
http://www.harborfreight.com/air-too...gun-66222.html
avg CFM is 12 CFM

My compressor is a 6 HP 7.7 cfm @ 40 psi 27 gallon craftsman. Google says 27 gallons = 3.6 cubic feet. Does this mean it wouldnt even be worth it to try and shoot it since i'd be able to shoot maybe 45 seconds?

Is there any cheap gun that will work with my compressor?

From what I understand you need to match the cfm of the gun to the cfm of the compressor. Technically you could get by with what you have although you would have to stop frequently to allow the compressor to refill which would cause uneven lines and possibly spatter or overspray if you aren't careful

People have done it but I don't think it's worth the trouble or potential spray problems.

Eastwood.com has their concours guns that claim to use only 4 cfm. They're like $200 with 2 tip sizes for primer/base.

go for a sharpe finex 3000 paint gun, about 100 bucks depending on where you buy, and its a PROFESSIONAL paint gun, not a harbor freight special. You should be able to spray with any garage sized compressor. I bought a 500 dollar ingersoll rand garagemate, and i couldnt be happier with its performance. Check out the compressors at www.tooldistrict.com and whatever you do, DONT FORGET TO USE A WATER SEPARATOR ON THE AIR HOSE.

I like the eastwood guns too, when I get up some money I am going to buy one. If you look on the website they come with a 10 year warranty, not bad for a starting gun.
