Installing new distributor.....need to reset timing???
I have searched but just need some simple direction. I am about to install a new distributor in my 94 Accord LX. Now I understand the distributor is only held on by a few bolts. Correct me if I am wrong but the new one will only drop in one way? Then am I all set or do I need to do something with the timing? I would like to avoid taking the car to get any work done for obvious expense reasons.
Thanks for any responses

The shaft in the distributor will only enage the slot in the end of the camshaft one way, but you will have to set the base timing. If you haven't removed the old one, make a mark across the boss at the top bolt, make a similar mark on the new distributor in the same place as the old one (as best you can), then remove and install, lining up the marks. This should get you close enough to start the engine. Using a timing light, set the base timing at 15 BTDC (should see a red mark on the flywheel) with the service connector (blue 2 pin connector under the right side of the glove box) shorted and the engine warm, it should be idling about 700 rpm.
