im wondering if i should install a short ram intake on my '92 civic. its automatic. will it even make a difference, or is it a waste of money?
It will add a couple HP and promote better air flow, depending on the one you get because there are crappy ones, which in turn increases gas milage. Both of these reasons won't be significant but it won't hurt.
You will lose low end torque, something a D-series doesn't exactly have an overabundance of, especially when coupled with an automatic. I mean think about it, you're pulling hot air from the engine bay. Its beyond a waste of time and money.
Very well said, I agree completely.
He is correct though, it won't really offer much performance benefit, but it's some cheap underhood bling and they sound sort of cool when you open the throttle so go for it if you have extra cash laying around.

if this be your only mod don't do it ppl will know your an auto if you already got exhaust than go for it doesn't do nothing gives your butt dyno crazy numbers but otherwise no real performance gains
ya'll need to relax. at the end of the day, an intake's gains/losses are too minimal for anyone to really feel. if you do, it's more of a placebo. yeah if you like the sound, go for it. i don't know how many mpg's you'll gain out of it. waste of money IMO because it doesn't do anything for you on a stock motor.
Those are just my opinions of course.
You'd be better off removing the stock resonator in the bumper and getting a better filter. I'd save up for a swap before I got a short ram in an auto... and this is coming from someone that did it in the past. It's a waste of money.
