I am wondering does JDM B-series tranny have 2 holes on the right side edge near the flyweel side of the tranny like in this pic.

Is this normal for JDM if so what would you tell the cops if he see's that in your car?

 

VIN tags were used on 1997 and newer USDM models and bolted in these holes but I do not think the JDM transmissions came with a VIN tag. If you purchase a new transmission or a new case from Honda/Acura it does not come with a VIN tag. It only has the threaded holes.

 

you might wanna get a matching vin or have those holes filled. that is a trans that used to have a vin plate on it...if im not mistaken.....

We put a sticker on our remanufactured transmissions with our company name and phone number. I have had the CA Highway Patrol call to verify that a transmission was not stolen on one that we rebuilt and changed the case on with an OEM new replacement case (No VIN plate). I explained that the replacement case does not come with a VIN tag and the old tag was too damaged to transfer over and that a brand new replacement transmission from Acura also does not come with a VIN tag. This seemed to satisfy them but I would definately keep a sales receipt on any transmission that is missing a VIN tag.
