i need some technical support.. : /
so i just bought a 2004 civic ex d17 and unfortunately its automatic... i would most definitely would like to do a tranny swap to manual... getting the transmission cheapest would be to search around in junk yards.. but i would need to know the tools required to do this.. any speacial tools i should be concerned about?? anyone have any idea... i have done motor swaps in my garage but never a tranny swap in a honda.. i usually do nissans and toyota... but change is always good. i heard hondas are the easiest mechanic friendly cars but a big pia that will make you throw a couple tools and curse.. but then again thats any car... in the future i would like to do a motor swap but for right now i need to focus on making the car look clean and ofcourse change it to my preference ( = manual ) .
If you got a nice set of metric sockets from 10mm-22mm and various wrenches and a good compressor and an impact gun you should be fine if you don't have one a good bar for leverage some elbow grease and anger will work lol and you can always find cheap one time use tools at harbor freight for a decent price.
10, 12, 14, 17, 19, and 32(axle nut)mm make sure you have a deep and shallow well 17mm for the mounts and a 12 point 17mm for the flywheel bolts.
pry bar or screwdriver to pop the axles. ratcheting wrenches make life wonderful.
and also you are going to need a manual sub frame and mounts cause the front mount is off by like an inch
the only specialty tools that you really need for a honda is a crank pulley holder which you can grab off amazon for like $30 and a ball joints separator (the one that uses a wrench not the pickle fork) with those 2 tools and a regular set of tools you can do almost anything on a honda they are really easy cars to work on
