new main relay, new cap and rotor, new plugs and iridium wires, put on the new external coil yesterday, it ran for 30 seconds, wont start again

all is left is the ignitor right? or icm whatever its called in the dizzy?

 

Check the fuel pressure on the fuel rail, might be the fuel pump going bad.

 

I will look into a fuel pump replacement as well.

 

Spray a quick shot of starting fluid into the intake tube while cranking the engine. If you get a few hits (fires) then you definitely have a fuel problem. Otherwise, it is probably timing or spark.

 

check to see if the external coil is bad. that would be where i'd start. its like 70 bucks.

 

It was the external coil AND the ignitor (ignition control module, the thing with 4 wires going into it in the dizzy)

up and running!

time for a turbo....

 

Good job man!! Glad to hear its fixed. When i had my first car, that had me puzzled for weeks! That was 10 yrs ago though.......

 

This is way too familiar... how do I go about checking for fuel issues, are there picts so I know where to spray the starting fluid?

I do have spark from external coil through dizzy to plug, I think it is fuel

I have already replaced the Igniter unit and re-soldered the Main relay unit....
it smells like its flooded at times...................
